A Lesson for the World

A little schoolboy was asked if his best playmate at school was a coloured boy, or a white boy.
He said, "I don't know... next time I see him, I'll have a look!".

Cult of Luna

Last night was Cult of Luna, band that not many have heard of... but should!

I went in a bit early to laze around, dig the vibe and enjoy a beer. By 7pm, nobody was lining up... which I thought a bit odd. I walked around some more, ran into three guys who were heading there and so we walked over... and there was STILL nobody around. We waited, and eventually a few people rocked up and then they opened the doors.

Now, I know CoL isn't really well known, but I didn't know to THAT extent, such that I've seen bigger crowds for local gigs. :/ It was quite sad actually, but, us that were there was incredibly excited for the gig to start.

I ran into a few folk I had met at previous shows, as well as the dude who is ALWAYS relied on to be there wherever EHRL are playing. It's quite nice, to have a friend who you know you'll only see at particular concerts.

EHRL played, (still no Swarming, I want to hear that song live ;__;). Played a rocking set and then made way for CoL. Let me just say, they put on one hell of an intense show. They showed no emotion yet you could hear it only through their instruments. I was right up at the stage, so was able to take some neat photos with my camera phone.

The gig ended with a terrific track of increasing notes, to a final climax and then waved themselves off the stage to many cheers. I managed to take a setlist, and my friend managed to get the other one! Also bought a $10 CoL bag, which shall be good for Uni times.

^__^

Was a good night! Afterwards I trekked my way by train to Murdoch station, and realised my bus had finished running, to which then two fellow concert go-ers I had been chatting to on the train offered me a lift back, which was very nice. I wasn't keen on a half hour walk after the show. Got back home: thinking about the next show to happen: SOUNDWAVE!

Far Beyond Metal

Hello!

Writing this at 3:14am, Uni starts today, but I am yet to sleep. T__T It is my fault, I woke up too late and accidently fell asleep this afternoon while reading. I didn't mean to, for some reason it's just so easy to fall asleep at such a time. Sigh.

I am hoping to fall into the sweet embrace of sleep soon, have been trying for a while now. I don't want to be braindead and beaten for tomorrows .. todays... happenings. But, at least I will be just tired, I remember when I went to a first day semester extremely hung over, and that wasn't fun at all. But, the night before was good.

Cult of Luna is happening on Wed-nes-day. ^__^ I shall be going alone, hopefully I'll see some familiar faces there. Will be good to see EHRL again too, I couldn't afford to go to their last show.

Most of you, I have probably sent this photo to, but I am welcoming into the world my new nephew, Liam! Born 12:15am Valentines Day. :) It's all very sweet, and no matter what you say Adamo: this photo is absolutely adorable.

Um...

What other news to write about? Everything sort of seems to be moving towards something else, new beginnings and paths to explore. I feel I am no longer stuck in the endless circle I found myself in a while back, I have discovered this new area of study and lifestyle. Prospects of work is on the rise, much to my displeasure, but I guess the fact of having a bit to spend and such will be good. (Yes, yes, I've been talking about such a thing for months now, but it's going to happen, I swear!).

Currently stuck with the tunes of Strapping Young Lad in my head, not really music for bedtime, but still a pretty rockin' tune nonetheless.

All In The Family

It's been a busy weekend, Saturday my Mum and Merv came up to Perth, and picked me up to go visit Uncle Arthur in hospital. I felt a painful stab when he came in walking so very slowly with the aid of a walker and nurse, but, he seems to be in high spirits. We heard some funny stories about his stay, apparently he was too nervous to go to the bathroom and so the doctors did an ultrasound of his bladder, during which Uncle Arthur got all excited and kept saying "I'm not pregnant! I'm not pregnant!" Hehee. We met his carer, she was a really nice lady. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Afterwards we went to Aunty Sue and Phils for a bit of dinner and a catch up. I was talked into staying and 'getting on the piss', as my Uncle said. It was nice, heard a lot of family gossip. Apparently two of my cousins were involved in a sort of love triangle, and the child was not of the husbands. So weird, man! These are the cousins I used to be teased by and danced around with at the country music festivals. We're certainly all grown up now.

Next morning I made a dash home to prepare for my sisters engagement party, which was really nice. I mentioned on the happydragon forums about my meeting of the lost brother. It was so awkward, but so nice at the same time. Lunch was amazing:

Entree: Cheese souf..souflee... thing.
Main: Chicken pieces with this incredible herb spiced mash potatoes.
Dessert: Chocolate cakeee!
Drinks: OJ and I ordered this INCREDIBLE alcoholic beverage cocktail: Toblerone. It's Khalua and ... uuh... chocolate sauce. All I know is it was the most delicious beverage I have ever consumed.

Got home, went to take a nap and ended up sleeping till 8:30am this morning, still fully clothed.

And now I'm up.

More news articles that have caught my interest:

Girl dying from drug overdose at Perth BDO:

What a fool she was to do such things on a hot as hell day at a festival of thousands and thousands of people. I feel kind of bad, but, she should have been more careful. At least she didn't die in a "mosh-pit" of Limp Bizkit. This also means there will be even GREATER security in future years.

Apparently, rumour has it, that the organisers have already decided next years theme to be 'hard and heavy', and that they've secured a killer headliner. APPARENTLY, according the BDO forums. I hope this is true!! :)

And this one got me annoyed:

Beating procrastination? Hell no!

Currently in search of both a job and a new place to live. Sigh.
I can't wait to get this all settled and be able to go back to Uni. I'm missing the social side of it quite a bit. Can't wait to see Paul Macdonald as well. ^__^
