2008

Okay: so.... Joel just told me of the V Festival next year: two more to add to the list:

Dream Theater
Rage Against The Machine
Iron Maiden
Smashing Pumpkins
Queens of the Stone Age

2008 is going to be one hell of a year. That is an absolute flawless lineup... all in the first four months of the year.

Moving out this weekend, gotta get packing.
Had my Immunology exam today, I think I did well! Spending all night at the library the past three nights really payed off, even if it did cost part of my sanity.
One more exam tomorrow, and then I am done!

Acting on Impulse

I am thinking now: that this Summer is going to be good.

On a spur of the moment decision, I decided to call up a place outside of the SV. It's a nice house, big and white in Canary Place about a 5 minute walk from here. I met the couple to who I will be living with, they're a cool pair.

My future room is damn amazing, when we walked in I asked "oh, is this the second loungeroom?", it's big. A little too big... even with the amount of crap I have at the moment, I'll have no space problems at all. The room even has double wooden doors with coloured glass. Wireless internet, porch, even a designated smoking room.

I have found no fault into the idea of moving in, something might come up, but until then I am very very excited to be moving out of the SV. I start moving my stuff straight after my exam on Friday, by Sunday I shall be on here, the internet, unpacked and getting all homely-like with the pets they have.

Unfortunately, this move has ruined my hopes of maintaining enough money for my Dream Theater ticket this Friday. While I still can afford a normal ticket... I will not be able to meet them if they sell out over the weekend. For once in my life, I am hoping that Perth fans can hold out their support of DT and leave me one of only fifty tickets. @_@ This means too much to me to give up hope.

Due to the hassle of today, I have not yet done any study. Off to the library I shall soon go, get my study on.

And who knows which is which and who is who.

Bah. Having no money to spend on food shopping is going to make the weekend and the entire next week a tough one. But, I take it in pride as the money is my bank is for a most worthy cause.

I was up till 4am last night on chatting away and watching Rage. Machine Head, Trivium, Megadeth and QOTSA were the ones I stuck around for, always good to see some decent music on television. The flatmates got home from their night of clubbing when I was in the lounge, wish I had gone too... just for some time out of the house that didn't involve work and away from the desk.

It feels like months since we finished lectures, when in fact it's only been two weeks. These weeks are dragging on, I just want the exam weeks to be over. I can't wait to move into my Summer flat and enjoy some time without the guilty conscience.

I've been thinking of buying a keyboard, something to mess about with over the Summer break. If only I had an ounce of talent to play collaboratively with others , my guitar skills equal that of a drunken child. But, I persist, playing along absentmindedly when I am studying or lazing about in the loungeroom.

I have a few goals for Summer break:

- Work three or four days a week.
- Enjoy my first time in Wagin with my Mum and her husband (a truce has been made, but can I pull of a real friendship with him without seeming fake?)
- Spend some quality time with the Bunce side of the family and Dad.
- Finish the painting that I have been working on for over a year now.
- Hang about with the friends, if they would like to.
- Save up for a new computer... work up the courage to abandon this one.

It should be a nice break, I hope.

Might head to the library soon, check out some of the recommended texts in the reserve section, something I should have done weeks and weeks ago.

Oh, I had the most strangest moment last night!

It was about 2:30am, ... whenever it was, I was playing Floyd's DSotM, which I haven't listened to for a while so I was brought back into the wonderful serenity of the tracks. It got to Us And Them and decided I should head down to the vending machines and buy something nice with my last coinage.
Walking, head up at the sky in hopes of seeing a shooting star. Experiencing some of those cosmic thoughts that one has whenever they gaze up at the night sky. I kept walking when I could hear this music being played rather loudly but no so through an open window. I ignored it until I realised it was Us And Them!
The very same song I was playing when I left my room!

Think of it though... 2:30am, dead of night, both of us listening to the same album and on the same track. It blew my mind and I sort of froze in my feet thinking: no one is going to believe this, or understand how amazing I found it to be.

I quickly walked home and told the story over MSN... that made my night it did, put in such a happy state of mind.

One week.

Listening to Mike Oldfield's: Songs of Distant Earth at this hour is wonderful.

So peaceful, so inspiring. So... well, calming. My friend Josh introduced me to him, and fell in love the first time I heard The Hero. Musical brilliance, something to be experienced.

Got a bit done today, study wise. One week till I am sitting at the table for my first exam. The unsettling nervousness that is felt when reading time starts. Those 10 minutes last forever, two hours ahead of mental work, brain firing all these thoughts and wrong perceptions of answers. Self doubt.

Oh but god it will be glorious to walk out of my final exam on the 30th. Two years down, one to go. One year till I am out into the real world.

4am

Why I am starting a new blog, I'm not really too sure. I have quite a few already, but they have either passed on in age (the internet has many archived entries posted by me throughout the years, I'm not sure if I even know the address for them all). But I thought, why the hell not. If this format can be good enough for the delightful characters of Achewood, then it is worth a new fresh canvas for all the emotionally driven ramblings that occur when I am bored, or in this case, unable to sleep.

It has just hit 4am. I have been in bed for the past 3 hours just laying there, thoughts buzzing around too vast in quantity to ignore. I haven't been feeling well today, my muscles ache and I have quite the head cold to accompany them. I have to work tomorrow, I was hoping that a good nights sleep would do me good, hopefully writing something in a coherent manner will tire me out. Nothing like a good mental workout to tire oneself.

One of the many things on my mind is of course, Dream Theater. Perth will be heading to the Showgrounds on Australia to see the one and only legendary band as they hit our shores for the first time in their entire career. Yes, yes, I know it seems like I have talked about it too much the past few days (and months of foreshadowing this), but I feel it has been not enough! I have been telling people left, right and centre about this announcement, many with blank faces, many with a slight "oh, .. cool", and some of course just as excited as I am. 71 days my friends, till they are here. If I wasn't going to BDO and Iron Maiden, I would work all through Summer to travel around the country alongside them, show to show. I need to work for something, right? No use in slaving away those hours behind the checkout, services with a smile, to have the earnings cashed up in a bank account somewhere.

Another thing on my mind is the fact that this time last year I was having some of best conversations and times of my life on MSN. It's amazing, how time passes when a group of people (or just two) is chatting away on the program. Hours fly by and soon enough you are faced with the option of sleep:or staying awake. That time for me is usually 2am, before that time I can sleep with the knowledge that I awake easily the next morning. Anytime after that hour, things become ... strange...
Nowadays, everyone is all too busy. Too busy with Uni, with courses, with TAFE, with jobs to waste precious hours on MSN. But, I remain.
The Summer is coming, the 2 and a half month long break is just around the corner. I despise that time of year. I like having something to do during the days, instead I become somewhat of a recluse most of the time and sit here, in front of my computer or behind a book. Things might be different this year, as I have a job now to fill in the hours, I have a good year ahead, a life changing one next year as it will be my final year of Uni and with the horrific task of finding my own place to settle down and also to look for and start a full time job. The times, they are changing too quickly. I don't like change. I like what is now, but then what is now keeps changing. I shouldn't complain though, change can be good at times, who knows what could happen within the next year.

4:41am. It is nearing that hour of 5am. The time when the new day officially starts in my reasoning. 4:59am was when MSN windows were closed, when we said our goodnights and took comfort in the long awaited confines of our bed.

Okay, I will attempt to sleep. Must be in bed before 5am, otherwise things start to get weird and I will not get up in time for work. I was hoping to get a few hours study in before I leave... that... is most likely not going to happen.
